Who they are

Housing associations and other social landlords provide a substantial share of affordable housing. Names and regulatory terminology differ across the UK, but their role commonly includes owning, developing and managing homes for social or affordable rent and, in some cases, low-cost home ownership.

How to apply

Some homes are filled through nominations from a council or common register. Other providers accept direct applications or advertise homes through a lettings service. Applying to a provider does not necessarily bypass the local allocation system.

Checking a provider

Use official regulator, government, council or provider sources to confirm that an organisation is genuine. AHH records provider evidence where we can substantiate a local connection, but that evidence does not imply the provider has a vacancy today.
